Students at Lakeview Middle School recently had the chance to meet author Abi Zimmerman. As part of the "Lunch with an Author" program, Abi engaged students in discussions about her Sci-Fi novel, Echo 208. During Tiger Time, more students participated, asking questions and delving deeper into Abi's writing process, publishing journey, and plans for a sequel. Lakeview Middle School librarian Amanda Scroggs commended Special Education Teacher Stacy Mikel for organizing the visit. A signed copy of Abi's book will be available for students to borrow. Special thanks to Abi Zimmerman for inspiring young writers and sharing her passion for literature at Lakeview.

A huge congratulations to the choir for taking GOLD at ISSMA again this year! The choir had to perform in front of a panel of 3 judges, and were rated in 9 different categories. Their performance earned them a gold rating based on how well they met the expectations of each of these categories. Great work, choir!

Congratulations to the Advanced Bands performance at Friday night's band contest. The band received a Gold Rating from all 3 judges. They were also awarded a special “with distinction” award for their outstanding scores. After their performance, the students received a standing ovation from the audience. Great job students!

Congratulations to Lizbet Tepo-Valazquez and Phillip Boston for being acknowledged as the top fundraisers for the Pi Day Challenge. A big thank you to all the students who took part and raised $560. Lakeview's PTO will ensure the funds are put to good use. To celebrate, Lakeview students gathered in the gym, formed a line, and had the chance to present a pie to Lakeview's principal Todd Braddock, SRO Lewis Fuller, and Social Studies teacher Brandon Murphy. Congratulations to Regional National History Day Champions Olivia Ganser (Documentary - Oskar Schindler) and Alex Christopher (Exhibit - Bob Dylan). Both presented their individual projects at NHD - Indiana at Columbia City High School on Saturday, February 17th and will move on to compete at the State contest held at Marion University, Indianapolis on Saturday, April 20th.

Exploring French students had the opportunity to experience French cuisine together by researching and presenting on French dishes that they made at home to share with the class! They all did a great job and left class very full! #ExperienceLakeview #ExperienceWCS
Today in Tiger Time, students from Mrs. Boggs’s class played with fire! These students chose to read Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 over Christmas break. They came back and passed a test over the book with at least 80% accuracy.
Mr. McCollom set up an engaging lesson over the combustion point of different materials. This was such a fun way to celebrate the hard work that these students elected to do.
